Wineries

Wineries are what make this area special. The combination of high altitude, dry climate, sunny days and cool nights, and a plentiful water table underneath Cafayate, create a perfect environment to enable some of Argentina's best wines to be produced from Cafayate. The wines that are most characterstic of the area are a white wine, Torrontés as well as Malbec, Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and others. If you are a wine cconnoiseur, you will enjoy the numerous wineries available in Cafayate.
The Calchaquí Valleys are situated at 1600 metres above sea level, with some areas like Tacuil and Molinos reaching 2600 metres. This accounts for temperature amplitude, solar intensity and air dryness and purity.
All these elements combine and help produce wines of strong personality and excellent quality, with distinctive scent, colors and taste. Check out the visiting hours for each bodega here.
