Quilmes Ruins -Ruinas Quilmes

Quilmes RuinsOnly 40 km south of Cafayate you will find the Quilmes Ruins. The Quilmes Ruins are considered to be one of the most important constructions of the pre-hispanic period of the Argentine Northwest, are an outstanding example of the urbanization of the culture Santamariana. Now, after almost 300 years of the tribes migration to leave its lands, the city of Quilmes is restored and possible to visit, being one of the most important archaeological sites of the country.

 

Museums - Museos

PachamamaMuseum of the vine and the wine (Museo de la vid y el vino):
This museum demonstrates the history of the winegrowing industry in Cafayate. Learn how Cafayate started growing wine on a small level and has since grown to international fame.

Archaeological Museum Rodolfo Brave: This museum demonstrates artifacts that was excavated within a radius of about 30 km from Cafayate. Many of the artifacts, whether ceramic, textile or in metals, was of religious and funeral use, except for spearheads, arrows, axes, instruments to grind, etc. This 66 year old museum is named after it's original founder and creater, Mr. Rodolfo Brave.

Museum Pachamamá: This museum, located 50k south of Cafayate in Amaicha del Valle, demonstrates the incredible talent, culture, and history in this area. The amazing rock structures, created and designed by Hector Cruz, will leave you wondering how it could be possible to create such works of art.
