Quebrada de las Conchas |
As you pass on the road from Salta to Cafayate, you will find the Quebrada de las Conchas. This majestic canyon demonstrates the power of water, wind and millions of years with its distinctive rock formations and rich colors. The 50 km passage reminds one of a painter's pallette with deep reds, browns, and greens. As it follows the river, you will see a series of special formations such as Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat), El Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), El Obelisco (Obelisk), Los Castillos (Castles).

Médanos
|
Only 3k out of Cafayate lie the Médanos (sand dunes). Created by wind and erosion from the Quebrada de los Conchas, the beautiful, pristine white sand heaped in hills last for kilometers. You can meander through the ups and downs barefoot or just climb to the top of one of the dunes and watch the moon and the stars and distant views.
